REI - www.rei.com
I am an outdoor person. All of my personal passions are either outdoor activities or enhanced by the great outside. If I could ride my bike instead of drive a car everywhere, I would do it in a minute. REI is all about the outdoors. Their current advertising slogan is "Out is In" and I simply could not agree more. |

Apple - www.apple.com
I have been a Mac guy from day one. I am so thrilled that Apple diversified into music, movies and phones because they simply make a better product even if the rest of the world has chosen that "other" computer platform. Steve Jobs is a genius and I couldn't be happier to see them successful. They simply make the coolest stuff. Period. |

Livestrong Foundation - www.laf.org
How do you top winning seven consecutive Tour de France cycling championships? You pick a fight with cancer. Lance Armstrong was nearly pronounced dead with cancer himself and fought back to become one of the world's top athletes. Now he is using his celebrity factor and inspirational story to help the 12 million Americans living with cancer today. What's not to love about combining my love of cycling with furthering this cause? I just participated in the LIvestrong Challenge and cannot wait for it to return next year. We did the entire 100 mile course and the volunteer staff made us feel like celebrities with the best support I have ever seen on an organized ride. Nothing like a positive spirit flying directly in the face of adversity.
The Wellness Community - www.svwellness.org
We can't expect Livestrong to fight cancer all by itself. Check out The Wellness Community as their mission is equally admirable. Everybody knows somebody with cancer. I want to be proactive and do something to help those directly suffering or close to it.

Food Network - www.foodnetwork.com
I am much more of a doer than a watcher so my time in front of the tube is very minimal. However, the Food Network has done an amazing job of taking a traditionally boring format (the cooking show) and turned it into really great entertainment. Cooking is almost unlimited when it comes to room for growth and improvement. I will never master the art but I will also never stop experimenting and expanding my horizons. Every chef on TFN brings a fresh perspective and there is something to learn from all of them. |

Dono dal Cielo Vineyards - www.donodalcielo.com
What's the next best thing to owning your own winery? Having your relatives own one. A boutique winery is a grass roots project where you literally get your hands on the vines. My in-laws left the Silicon Valley rat race for the Sierra Foothills and have thirty beautiful acres of vines. The began with a Zinfandel and have garnered several awards in just three years of bottling. I have learned lots about wine and that is a natural pairing for my love of food.

Trader Joe's - www.traderjoes.com
Just when you thought no one could create a new and unique food shopping experience along came TJ's. For the same reason large warehouse stores appeal with discounts for case lot sizes, Trader Joe's has found and filled an opposite niche for single people and smaller families. Not only do they have unique items you can't find elsewhere but their pricing is so reasonable that filling a whole shopping cart will not cause you pain at the register. They also have prepared foods in various stages so the most culinary challenged can still whip up something fairly tasty.

Whole Foods - www.wholefoodsmarket.com
You just can't walk into a Whole Foods Store and not be impressed with the freshness, cleanliness and irresistible merchandising of food. They are in a league of their own when it comes to large supermarkets. |

Los Gatos High School - www.lghs.net
I have yet to see a more beautiful high school campus anywhere. I've heard many people compare it to a small private college on the east coast. |

Santa Clara University - www.scu.edu
I am just as proud to be an alumni of Santa Clara University as I am to say that I attended Los Gatos High School. Santa Clara is a great small Jesuit university with an incredible night time MBA program where you can work full time during the day and take classes in the evenings. I have two degrees from SCU and so many incredibly close relationships that have endured over thirty years. It is a very tight community that definitely supports its own.
